Polar Plunge® 2012!

People across Kansas are in training for the 2012 Polar Plunge® season. There are many ways to become involved in a Polar Plunge® in your area. For a minimum donation amount of $75, sign up as a Polar Plunge® bear and take the ultimate leap for Special Olympics athletes. You can warm yourself up afterwards in our highly sought-after 2012 Polar Plunge® sweatshirt. If you raise $250 or more, you qualify for our beach towel incentive. If you raise $500 or more, you will receive our beverage cooler with built-in speakers. If you want the whole package (sweatshirt, towel and cooler), raise a minimum of $1,000.

Taking the Polar Plunge® too extreme for you? Don't worry! You can still show your support of our athletes. Declare yourself a chicken! For a minimum donation of $75, you can receive our prized 2012 Polar Plunge® sweatshirt. Plus, if you raise $250 or more, you can qualify for the same prize incentives (towel and/or cooler) as the plungers do! To register online as a chicken, click here!

Also, at the KC Metro, Salina, Topeka and Wichita Polar Plunges®, we will be having various runs (called Polar Struts). All strutters will receive a long-sleeve t-shirt. Get a jump start on your spring training and run in one of our Struts!

Fishing Tournament Registration Now Open!

Grab a friend and join us for the 2nd Annual Crappie Fishing Tournament!  If you register by April 20, the fee to enter is $80 per team of two people.  After that date and day of event, registration will be $100.  Payout schedule is 50% payback (pay 1 place per 10 boats) with additional prizes to be awarded!  Click here for complete rules, including offline registration form and waiver. Midnight Run

Let's find out who the fastest night runner is in Kansas City!  Join us for a unique Midnight Run in Leawood, KS. The event takes place at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, April 28 with walk-up registration at the venue from 10:00 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. on Friday, April 27.  Early packet pick-up and registration is also held on Thursday, April 26th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at SOKS HQ (5280 Foxridge Drive, Mission, KS). Register before March 30 for only $25!  The registration fee from March 31 to April 26 at 3:00 p.m. is $30. Walk-up entry fee is $35. To register, you have two options. You may complete and mail in (with payment) our registration form or visit our online registration page.

 

Run WITH The Law

Join Derby Law Enforcement Officers at your local Run WITH the Law™ (RWTL) on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Rock River Rapids. Participation fee is only $10 per person and shirts are an additional $15. RWTL is open to students and family members of all ages. You may register online here or download and complete the registration form. Check in starts at 8:00 a.m. with the run starting at 9:00 a.m. Spend the morning as a family, taking a quick 1.5 mile run/walk and enjoy the benefits to your family’s health while supporting the health and fitness of persons with intellectual disabilities.

 

Bump...Set...Spikefest!

Gather your friends and reserve the date! On Saturday, May 26, the Lenexa PD will be hosting their annual Sand Volleyball Tournament at the Volleyball Beach (13105 Holmes Avenue, Kansas City, MO). Registration starts at 10:00 a.m. and you can download the registration form here or register online here. There is a $150 fee per team of six and it includes a meal ticket for each member of your team. We will see you at the sandbox!
