Tip A Cop - Red Robin

Save the date of Wednesday, December 3! Topeka area law enforcement officers will be hosting a Tip A Cop at the Topeka Red Robin (6230 SW 6th) from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. For more details, check out our flyer!

 

Tip A Cop - Texas Roadhouse

Join the Riley County Police Department as they partner up with Texas Roadhouse (200 Manhattan Town Center, Manhattan, KS) to present their annual Tip A Cop! The event will be held on Wednesday, December 10 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. If you make a donation during the event, you can enjoy an onion blossom or fried pickles for FREE! What a great way to support Special Olympics Kansas and get free food! Hope to see you there!

Make History in the First Unified Relay Across America for Special Olympics

The Unified Relay Across America will be in Kansas on June 16th, 17th, 23rd and 24th.  You can make history by carrying the Flame of Hope. The Flame of Hope will be lit in Athens, Greece and travel to the United States.  This flame will be carried across our nation to all the way to Los Angeles, California to kick off the Special Olympics World Games. Run or bike the torch in a segment with your friends, sponsor the event or sponsor an athlete. Registration will open soon.  http://www.unifiedrelayacrossamerica.org/

 

Taking Applications for Athlete Ambassadors

The Kansas LETR Executive Council has added a new Athlete Ambassador position on the Council to represent Special Olympics Kansas athletes. This is a 3 year leadership position with the opportunity to attend the International Torch Run Conference during the 2nd year of their term.

The nominated athlete must have public speaking training and experience.  Graduating from the Global Messenger Training will be preferred.  The nominated athlete must also have support of a coach/mentor to assist with conference calls or review of Kansas Law Enforcement Torch Run materials, as well as support from the Area Law Enforcement Torch Run members. Please see the Athlete Ambassador Job Description for more details. Applications for the 2015-2017 term are due December 15th to fornelli@ksso.org.
